Bikes designed

September 24, 2008

Finding the right bike will mean more enjoyment – Hillsdale, MI – Hillsdale.Bikes meant for racing are designed vastly different from those designed for rugged terrains and are different still from bikes, which are suited for tricks and jumps. While each individual category of bike has even more subcategories within it, this list below provides a general description of bike categories to serve as a jumping-off point.Created specifically for races and road use, road bikes are designed to be lightweight and as aerodynamic as possible.Tires are super skinny with very little traction to create a smooth ride on paved road. This type of bike also features the most aggressive seat with a raised saddle and lowered handlebars, which serve to evenly distribute weight throughout the bike and form a more aerodynamic line.

Unlike a road bike that has smooth, skinny tires, mountain bikes are designed to be sturdy and stable in rough terrain.Though not always, mountain bikes often feature front tire suspension to create a smoother ride when going over bumps and dips.Tires are generally wider than road bike tires and have more traction, though are not as extreme as mountain bikes.Department and discount stores sell a variety of bikes, but those of a higher quality can only be found in bicycle shops, according to Martin and Harsh. It is not as comfortable and does not perform as well.Even brand names, like Schwinn, develop two different product lines that are either mass produced or sold at high-end stores, according to bike supply

North randall campus college powersport institute

August 12, 2008

A branch campus of Ohio Technical College, the PowerSport Institute is growing rapidly and is seen as a bright spot for troubled North Randall.Amid the dusty retail spaces and empty parking lots in North Randall, one thriving business has kicked into overdrive. The , a branch campus of , moved last summer into the former JCPenney space off Miles Road, in the ailing Randall Park Mall.learn to repair a motorbike at the PowerSport Institute in North Randall.

Student training kicked off in North Randall a few months ago, and campus director Bernie Thompson hopes to see all PowerSport Institute classes move from Cleveland to the branch campus in January.Around the same time, the institute could add an 18-month associate degree track, expanding on its traditional 48-week program.A wide carpet, patterned like a road, leads students and visitors between the bays and past blocked-off escalators that once carried shoppers. The second floor is used for dealer and manufacturer training for Kawasaki, Yamaha, Polaris and Victory.Hundreds of dealership and manufacturing employees will travel through North Randall during the next year to get their first look at — and their hands on — new vehicles.

Thompson is talking to Bombardier, Honda and Suzuki about offering seminars at the campus, and he hopes someday to lure Harley-Davidson to the building. The institute, which could hold a grand opening event next summer, hopes to offer motorcycle safety classes and build a dirt bike and snowmobile track in the parking lot next summer.Ohio Technical College already is using the parking lot for truck-driving schools.Once the North Randall campus meets that mark, the college will explore opening other PowerSport Institute branches in far-flung locations such as Denver and Las Vegas. This growth, Brenner said, will take place whether Randall Park Mall stagnates or gets saved. In June, a Cincinnati developer plans to buy bike the mall, then fell silent as rumors flew that the deal was dead.Sinai Ministries in Cleveland are involved in plans to remake the sprawling property, and Mayor Smith insists the mall is still under contract to a buyer.

Smith and other North Randall advocates have suggested that Ohio Technical College should move its entire campus — more than 600,000 square feet housed in a motley collection of old buildings.

Against bakshi police three claimed arrested

August 12, 2008

On Monday, as a local magistrate gave the Crime Branch his custody for two weeks, police claimed Haleem is a crucial link in the Saturday blasts and that grilling him would unravel the execution of and the conspiracy behind the terror act.In a time of tragedy and terror, everybody, justifiably, wants answers, culprits, punishment. The challenge then is not to reach for the quick routes, the easy demonisations.Unfortunately, the Indian State has not quite met that challenge. In pursuit of this, in an attempt to sift fact from prejudice, TEHELKA conducted an investigation across India over three months and 12 cities. The investigation found that entrenched prejudices in the executive and the judiciary, an abject lack of political will against framing scapegoats, and a 24×7 news media that demands instant whodunit answers and unquestioningly copy-pastes every unproven police and intelligence story on terrorist networks has morphed into a tragic persecution of hundreds of people falsely accused of terrorism.SINCE SUNDAY, in anonymous plants in the stenographic news media, police have claimed that Haleem is a SIMI member linked with Pakistan- and Bangladeshbased terrorists.

He said they planned, among others, to assassinate BJP leader LK Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.Police have said Haleem was absconding since he was named an accused in this case in 2002.This year, on May 27, an inspector from the police station sent Haleem a onepage handwritten notice in Gujarati. You are directed to submit a list of their names, addresses and phone numbers. That application clearly mentioned that Haleem would be the main speaker at the event. He is a man of religion and has never indulged in terrorism.Abdul Haleem, who turned 43 on July 13, hails from Uttar Pradesh and has lived in Ahmedabad from 1988.He is a preacher with a puritanical Islamic sect called Ahle Hadis that began on the subcontinent some 180 years ago and has survived a frowning Sunni orthodoxy. The police claim its members include many terror accused such as those of the July 2006 Mumbai train blasts. The sect, with a claimed membership of 30 million in India, denies the charge. It points out that Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil was the chief guest at its national symposium two years ago at New Delhi.

In Ahmedabad, Haleem led the 5,000-odd Ahle Hadis followers for 14 years, resigning three years ago to minister a small mosque so he could begin life as a scrap dealer to earn a regular income to feed his wife and seven children, the oldest two of whom study at a madarsa in Delhi. An Ahmedabad native named Shahid Bakshi, who lived in Kuwait and was visiting his home, came to meet Haleem with two other Muslims. One of them was from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh who also lived in Kuwait.A week later, one camp responded saying it had found 34 children for such care.Haleem phoned the Kuwait expatriate, who was then in Moradabad, and also wrote to him about the offer. But getting no response, the plan died and, importantly, no children were ever sent.Three months later, in August 2002, Delhi Police arrested Shahid Bakshi and the other expatriate from Kuwait allegedly with 4.The Moradabad trader was also arrested from his hometown. All three were charged under the Prevention of Terrorism Act for conspiring to carry out terrorist acts.As both Bakshi and Haleem were from Ahmedabad, police there were informed. The police instantly released Haleem who rushed to the court where his statement on his illegal detention was duly recorded and is part of official documents.

The charge-sheet in the case clearly admits that the so-called conspiracy had remained on paper and no children ever travelled from Ahmedabad to Moradabad. The law says the police have to follow due legal process before declaring an accused as absconding. This includes searches at his house and workplace in view of independent witnesses, and recording statements from neighbours to establish that the accused has not been seen for a long time. The Ahmedabad police did not bother with this exercise. The entire case against Haleem is based on a letter he wrote to the expatriate from Kuwait, Farhan Ahmad Ali.Dated August 7, 2002, the letter makes no reference to terrorist training or any other unlawful activity.Haleem wrote that six of the children were orphans and the rest poor. The court accepted the police version even though the only witnesses to the alleged recovery of RDX were policemen.Ahmad Ali had claimed that he was arrested at the airport as he was to board a flight to Kuwait, and said he had tickets as proof.

Both Bakshi and Ahmad Ali appealed at the Delhi High Court against their conviction.Yet, another Gujarat High Court judge denied them bail and both continue to languish in jail.On Sunday, July 27, the morning after the blasts, Tahir visited the crime branch office with trepidation. After all, Yasir is an ex-SIMI member whose father and one brother are jailed on charges of terrorism. With his brother and father suspected as dreaded terrorists, the Hyderabad Police should have kept tabs on Yasir all the time and instantly known if he was aiding terrorists. This reporter interviewed Yasir in Hyderabad a month before his arrest, on his birthday on June 12, at an engineering workshop that his father had set up three decades ago with borrowed money and skills picked up as an assistant to a roadside mechanic. In the din of machines, Yasir was happily engaged in managing customers crowding the small front office.A shy man with a Boy Scout smile, Yasir seems a victim of patently bogus cases against him.A day later, the police slapped another case against the three, alleging that one of them was arrested making a speech against the government. The other two, including Yasir, were shown as absconding. They went back to the court and were sent to jail, where Yasir spent 29 days before securing bail.At this, Gujarat police officer Narendra Amin took out his service revolver and shot dead one protestor. They should have arrested and produced Amin before a magistrate.Amin proceeded to Ahmedabad with Maulana Nasiruddin in his custody.

MEANWHILE, A tragedy has befallen the main complainant against Amin in the Hyderabad shootout case.Amazingly, the police filed seven confessions from the two accused over the next 18 days.Police then filed their eighth confessions in which they allegedly accepted being SIMI members and the attendant terror charges.Of course, Nasir has retracted his confessions alleging torture.Yet, he has little hope against biases in the judicial system. He told me that the police denied them food and water and subjected them to repeated beatings. The other piece of paper had a message that seemed to be a sort of code that I could not immediately decipher. Also, when I examined the South India map, Udupi had a sort of indication with a red marker against it.Perhaps they were planning to strike at the place during a religious function..

Bike hammered

August 12, 2008

So we took off, and I felt fairly comfortable for the entire 100 miles.A BIG, MEAN dog, and one that was just allowed to run loose and harass bikers and runners. She went over the handle bars and ended up with a terrible case of road rash, but thankfully no broken bones.Let training be training, and let racing be all out, , fight, scrape and claw your way to the beat everyone you possibly can.So we got there, I got body marked and set up transition, chatted with my peeps, was successful in the potty-a-potty, listened to the prerace instructions, which included penalties for littering, and I was off in the 2nd wave.My legs felt surprisingly well, and I ran the first 2.T-1 went okay, although I felt somewhat slow and clumsy getting out of there. It is deceptively challenging, but it is loads of fun.I hammered the flats, hammered the downhill, and hammered the rollers, trying to pass as many people as I could, and I managed to reel in quite a few.My Dad was out there on his motorcycle, and Holly was riding with him snapping pics and yelling for us.About a mile from the turnaround, I decided it was time for a Hammer Gel – the chocolate one in my back pocket.

It was difficult to open, but I finally got the top ripped back enough, even though it looked like a mess.I just successfully squeezed this open, chocolate, turd-brown Hammer Gel at my face and there is nothing in my mouth. So I look down and find out why – both legs look like I have tried to run a marathon after eating at Krystal for the pre-race meal.Brown gu running the down the sides of both of them.So I raise my hand up and wipe it across my cheek and find out where the rest of the brown gu is.My first thought is to sling this gel packet as far as I can sling it and try to get this mess off of me without losing too much time.My second thought is that of the officials warning that if you litter on the course and get caught, you will penalized.I got over it, finally, and hammered back to transition as hard as I could go.

I successfully got my feet out of my shoes on the final stretch, but for some reason I failed to throw my leg over as I stopped my bike.I took little steps, high cadence, and let my heart rate settle in for the run.I went out for the first little loopty-loop and saw Tim kicking butt.I high-fived Holly, and kept going towards the out and back on the runway. My legs were getting tired, and I was pushing as hard as I could push.I looked over my shoulder, and knew immediately who it was., with Charles digging deep to fight him off at the end.from the running club took away 1st AG, and Rebecca M.Tim, Lee, Tracy, Michele, Eric, Me, TonyAfter helping out with the clean up some, I got back on my bike sizing and took off for 40 more miles – out the race course to 41-A, then onto Rutlege Falls and into Manchester.Michele had already left to go home, but my Dad decided to be my riding partner on his.I ended up with 75 miles biking and 5 miles running, and a first place overall award.thanks for ridig up there with me and keeping me spinnning vs mashing. He should now become official Bigun IM training coach.A wife, mother, and a child of God, who has been blessed countless times beyond what I deserve..

Bike convertible

August 12, 2008

Or at least going through a thought process about it..Buy a convertible that way you can take the kids with you. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. But I have been considering the bike helmets due to current gas prices and the fact I fill my car up twice a week. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. In a congested country there is no better way to get around.I play catch with my boys, piggy back them, run and jump and do silly thing on the monkey bars, do martial arts with.if your worried about breaking your neck or back, skateboarding probably is not the best option.Get something that your experiance level can handle and make sure it has a windshield. The windshield designed for my bike is short enough that the top of my helmet sits in the slipstream and vibrates, so I go without the windshield. Most everyone I know who has had a bike has never had an issue with an accident.Younger crowd over there, less life experience overall. As Aoife pointed out, there are a lot of inattentive drivers out there busy text-messaging each other. He has his larger touring bike for when he and my Mom take longer trips, and the smaller bike for the trips around town.Casey has a Harley as well and we love riding it around town and are planning a beach ride in a few weeks.I now have 3 helmets, a pink non-dot approved helmet, a smaller black helmet and a full face pink helmet. Most everyone I know who has had a bike has never had an issue with an accident. That is an interesting post, because almost ALL riders I know have at one time or other dropped their bike, or had to bail.Second I would put slippery surfaces, rain, oil, painted surfaces, to name a few, debris is another. He went from weekend rides to commuting on the bike.He has friends who have laid them down but no one has been seriously injured. We did have an idiot friend who went out one night, got drunk, climbed on his bike, and pushed it to 110 on I-85 and promptly ran into the back of a truck. He survived but he is living in a motorized wheelchair for the rest of his life.Life is about stupid decisions, and he could have been in a car and ended up with the same fate.Leather jackets come in many shapes and style, but a lot are decorative rahter than protective.I have seen even expensive jackets instantly disintegrate when hitting the ground.Boots are essential, even better with shin amour, ankle protection and similar.Sure around town, it may be ok to wear jeans, but as speed increases, jeans will not cut the mustard.Gear should be water proof if you want to ride in all weathers.Whether you want it or not, sooner or later something will happen.I have had 4 bikes, and 5-6 spills, some minor, grazes etc, others a bit more serious, dislocated shoulder, broken finger, lower spine issues yada yada.Havent known any deaths personally, but they happen routinely. If you are doing it to save money, dont expect a huge saving.Sure fuel can be better, but depending on the bike, you spend more on tires, chains, maintenance, etc.I can spend as much on a front wheel for a sports bike as I do on an entire set for my car, then have to do it again in 2500miles, where as the car is still going for miles. Then there is insurance, which is often expensive enough to choke a donkey. But they are cool, and more fun than a barrel full of monkies.Second I would put slippery surfaces, rain, oil, painted surfaces, to name a few, debris is another.I never laid it down, but I had a couple of close moments.I took the safety course and like to think I was a pretty good rider, but it was with good measure of luck or grace I survived. There are just too many things outside your control on a bike, and the car or truck wins every time.So chalk me up for no accidents or laying it over, but two or three near death experiences. The biggest danger is car drivers, aslong as your not regularly in traffic, it should be fine..
